Scene Study
Class Description
This class will focus on expansion of imagination and refinement of technique.. As a group, we will focus on exercise work designed to explore imaginative powers, using methods from many traditions including Michael Chekhov, Tadashi Suzuki, and Konstantin Stanislavski. Each class will incorporate the fundamental work of opening the breath, grounding the voice, and freeing the body of habitual tension. This class is for all levels; experienced actors, beginners, as well as continuing students, are welcome to attend.
For each class, bring in one minute of memorized text from any source, though heightened text is preferable. (Shakespeare, Bible, Sonnets, Poetry, etc.) This text will be used for exercise purpose only so you do not need to prepare it for performance, just memorize it. A new text is preferable for each class, though it's also useful to work on one piece of text for the entire month.
